Bosnia and Herzegovina Chairs MARRI Regional Initiative

Bosnia and Herzegovina assumed the chairmanship of the Migration, Asylum and Refugee Regional Initiative (MARRI) at the Regional Forum on 24 June 2025 in Tirana.

During its one-year mandate, Bosnia and Herzegovina will focus on strengthening the role of MARRI in regional cooperation, aligning its priorities with regional needs and global migration trends.

During its chairmanship, Bosnia and Herzegovina will place emphasis, inter alia, on positioning MARRI as a key regional actor in the field of migration, on strengthening its role in establishing a common and coordinated regional approach in the implementation of the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum, on preventing and combating trafficking in human beings and migrant smuggling, and on fostering cooperation in the areas of law enforcement, justice and cross-border cooperation through relevant regional mechanisms.
